Topic: spin'n glo under float |

hi fellas,
I was hoping someone could help answer my noob question.I apologize for my ignorance, but I just caught the fishing fever last year and am trying to educate myself on various aspects of salmon fishing.
Is it common to float a spin'n glo attached to a 3-way swivel with a Betty/ pencil lead weight? By floating I don't mean bottom bouncing, but using a slip float as a strike indicator and then going to 3-way swivel, with weight at the bottom and leader terminating with a spi'n glo +yarn/ roe.
I know a common float set up utilizes an egg sinker and a jig/ roe or what have you.
Would you recommend this setup and if not, why? Is spin'n glo for bar fishing and bottom bouncing only?

depends where you fish , I tried sng in tidal fraser , but even when tide changes you just don't get enough current to make it spin . if you would spent some time you will see that sng slides above the hook+bead , so I really doubt you can have luck by b/b it .

The thought was to use this set-up for rivers. I was going to use the betty weight since I'd be using a 3-way swivel. I have attached a digram for clarification.

What kind of fish are you targeting? What river are you planning on fishing?
Some of the old school guys on the coqu I've seen using a similar setup.
Small spin and glo can work well for steelies in dirty low vis water, I personally don't see the need for it especially for a noob I'm sure you've already invested lots in gear, spin and glow are expensive and you don't want to be snapping them off all the time. You should check out some of my older posts if you're looking for a decent setup to get started with.

I'm targetting salmon in the rivers within the lower mainland region. More of a foot soldier as I do not own a boat nor a a helicopter 
My salmon setup consits of a 10.5' Trophy XL Custom Series 8-17lb rod coupled with a Admundson STR450 center pin.
I was thinking about using the above mentioned terminal tackle with this rod and reel, but wasn't sure if I'm over-complicating things with the spin'n glo/ yarn and betty weight.
I will loo into your older posts as advised. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

u still not saying which rivers you wanna fish and when ?
imo blade under a float will be more productive and if you buy blades and make em , they are under 25c

currently none,lol, as i m yet to shed out a couple hundred if not more for good pair of waders. then I will commence my fishing adventures as season regulations allow. i'm still in the process of educating myself about the local and distant water bodies.I know the common spots such as squamish,capilano, vedder rivers. but don't like the overcrowding factor there.

where is always a few spots on any river without a crowd , all you need to do is just explore
