I figured since the weather is starting to warm up the bass might be starting up. I was planning on going there during the weekend and was wondering if anyone had been there recently. Thanks

boomdraco, what do you usually use in there? I was thinking of just trying a worm and float setup, I had a few rapala minnows, crankbaits, twister tail jigs...but I know it's really weedy. Might have to grab a few weedless lures. So the fish population is still decent? I was doing some searching on Google, and apparently in 2013 & 2014 they did some electro-fishing to try and kill off a good majority of what's in there.

Usually I go worm and bobber for small ones. My biggest out of there was on a rapala x rap. My dad gets them on spinner and buzzbaits. I have heard top water is good there but I have had no top water action. Yet. Hope this helps

The electroshocking happened. There are still some nice sized fish in there tho. But nothing too big as far as I can tell

Trinity western university has a lake. Also area 51 is the group of sloughs by pit lake. Mill lake, hatzic lake, Albert duck lake, and fishtrap creek all have bass as well. Hope this helps!

If you want a guaranteed bass go to Deer lake burnaby.nothing bigger than a pound but fish almost every cast.small jigs or flies near the weeds

I hear Minnekhada Regional park has some lakes/marshes w/ bass. I think you have to walk in from the parking area.
Area 51 is especially fun w/ the kids if you live in the tri-cities area. If fishing from shore, get there early and bring some bug spray. If you have a small boat, you can go around the marsh. Don't get lost!
Right across the border, Lake Terrell, west of Ferndale, is fun also. You can buy a WA fishing license (2 or 3 day) online.

I was out at McMillan at Trinity yesterday. On my walk around the pond I did see some surprisingly BIG bass up near the surface. I was hoping to hook one but all I got were the little guys. TONS of little guys (6-9'') and they were aggressive as hell, would literally take anything I threw out there (mostly trout flies... wholly buggers, doc spratleys, small spinners). I'm sure if you went with some more bass oriented equipment you could nail a few larger ones.
Overall, awesome for anyone looking to take the kids out for some easy fishing with a guaranteed catch

Those BIG bass are probably carp.Seen them cruisimg just under the surface on numerous occasions.

I went out for a couple hours this evening. Ended up catching a 6" bass on a fire-tiger pattern Blue Fox Minnow Super Vibrax. It's extremely hard to fish in there with standard bass lures, they just snag all the weeds.

Got a couple bigger ones yesterday, around 7.5-8" on the same lure. Yeah those "BIG" bass near the surface are actually carp cursing around there, I seen em several times while fishing.

Nice fish. Hope there are some bigger ones coming.

Have you been out there at lately boomdraco?

No I have not. We got a canoe so we have been doing a lot of that recently.

Oh nice. I tried there again yesterday (May 22, 2015) since I had the day off, got 7 bass in total. Lost one right at shore, all ranging from 8-13". Got there around 1pm, fished till 4. Twister tail grub with a weighted head seemed to be the ticket.
Here's a pic of my biggest fish of the day.

Nice I got to get there over the weekend. Are you just casting and retrieving or are you doing something else?
|
Trivium
|
I was cast-retrieving, switching up the retrieves though. Let it sink and twitch the lure up and down, or steady retrieve with a few side twitches of the rod tip. Gonna try Texas rigged (weedless) grubs and worms next time I go, I'm sure they'll be hitting em steady!

OK thanks. Good luck

Trinity is garbage now, try exploring some new lakes, there are many other spots that are more productive! Just gotta find them. Here is my biggest so far this year. Easily over 7lbs

Yeah it's been pretty dead since Friday, nothing wants to bite really. Nice fish. Were you at trinity today? You look familiar. As far as top water frogs go, no one I've seen using them lately has got any action. I had a big bass hooked, tried playing it out cause I'm only running 8lb line on my spinning reel. Lost it after about a minute, so disappointing.

Yikes BC! Epic catch. I know that nobody likes to reveal their fishing holes online, I get that, but was that caught in the lower mainland, say a potential daytrip from Eastvan?

Yes In the lower mainland

Which lakes are the best for bass right now??

Planning to go bassing this weekend. Anyone know where I should go for nice sized action? (I have a canoe now )

Maybe try Hatzic lake, you can park and launch your canoe in Nielson Park located on the west side.

Question; hatzic or silvermere? and what should I use for good action? The

I'd stay away from Silvermere. You could run into trouble from the locals if you put your canoe in there, not worth the hassle imho.
PS: Try checking the "Fishing Reports" for Hatzic Lake for recommendations on what to use.

Is it really not worth it? I've heard of biiiiig bass coming out of there
|
--Goin'-Fishin'--

I've fished from shore there many time with great success. Lots of fish in there.
I ventured out on my float tube one time, and one time only. Within 20minutes I was being harassed with close, high speed fly bys to intimidate me off "their" lake. The wakes were good enough to cause a bit of safety concern. I haven't dropped in the lake since.
If you're aching for some bass, go to Hatzic or mill lake.
|

OK thanks, I heard the locals were bad but I figured if you ask politely if you can use the lake it should be fine.

--Goin'-Fishin'--

Have fun. I'm done With you, lol.

Goin Fishin; is giving you the straight goods. Fishing is good in Silvermere. However The lake has a bad rep for a reason, the locals are a bunch of arrogant, self entitled wankers.
So it is up to you to accept the risk, which may be nothing or being harassed on the water and having your tires deflated.
Good luck and tight lines.

I understand that he was trying to help. I just heard a ton of great stuff about the fishing in silver mere. I went and there were no fish caught not even a bite. but my father and i went to hatzic later and caught some crappie and a squarish. I also was not trying to be ignorant or argue. I was just curious. So I am sorry Going fishn.

Once again sorry for annoying you goin' fish'n

Just wanted to let you guys know that trinity is damn near un-fishiable right now. The water level is pretty low, and the weeds have pretty much taken over completely. Only thing you can really use right now is weedless top waters.

As trinity seems to be not doing great has anyone been to fishtrap creek or mill lake recently??
