I finished my chores, and was told by my wife to get out there and enjoy today's beautiful afternoon….OK ..don't have to tell me twice.! I slipped on my hip waders walked down to mouth of my local tributary. The tide was just beginnng to move in , but mym seam of clear trib water was still fresh and flowing out. I stepped in knee deep, next to a fellow and his young son, who were just setting up their rods. Still having my rod set up from my last outing, I took the moment to toss out the 3/8oz bronzed croc (Red stripe) , still tied on my line. As i took in the scenery and quietly eve's dropped in the conversation , I over heard the son ask…"Dad are sure there is fish in here?" Just as the father replied "Well son you never know until you give it a try"…. ..my line went tight…tugged twice then ripped from my little spin caster. My little one peice 7ft.Berkly was bent over to perfection, and my 10 lbs spider line was slicing thru the water, left to right and straight out infront of the young lad . Now I'm not sure who was more surprised, me or the little fellow next to me, as a silver bullet shot out of the water, showed itself then instantley dissapeared again. After four good runs and a bit of convincing a beefy chrome buck showed it's self to be, indeed, a hatchery fish . The rest is evidenced by the photo. What a perfect afternoon, to be lucky enough, to show by example …You never know till you give it a try!

Nice fish forsure. I had something similar happen to me this year, and the little guy was getting frustrated after a few hours. I ended up hooking into one and handed my rod to the little guy to reel in. It was more rewarding for me that way.
Good story and it should go well on the BBQ.

Was at my local river the other day and caught this beauty wild. Put up a solid fight. Also caught several trout that day.
