Hey all! I'm heading up to the kamloops area in a few weeks and am looking for some current info. I heard there was quite the winterkill this year affecting a number of lakes. Had anyone noticed a drop in production compared to last year? I was thinking of going to Roche, Tunkwa or Leighton.

Tunkwa and Leighton have pretty small fish in them now the occasional big one if your lucky,Roche I have heard some good reports and some bad.

What is considered small in the interior? I'm used to 1/4 pounders in the lower mainland, so 1 pounders and up are big for me

then you're gonna be happy most are a pound or just over and lots of them!!

any reason you are choosing pretty much the busiest lakes? there's endless lakes in the area, why not choose a better lake with much, much better fish?

I'm not that familiar with the interior lakes. Care to share a few other lakes I can look into?

Heading up to Roche today. Will let you know how the fishing is. There was a partial winter kill this year, hearing various reports, so going to check it out for myself.

Perfect! Thanks! I will take your report into heavy consideration as to where we are going. Good luck and tight lines!!

Scuito is a great lake and all the lakes that surround it, salmon lake is also a decent lake and all the lakes in the ranch most are pay lakes but well worth the pay.To be honest though May long weekend was slow for boat activity up at Tunkwa and Leighton. I bet it was 1 to every 10 trailer's seems most where quading and relaxing.

Just back from Roche Lake. No question there was a partial winter kill.
Chironimids were the most successful, right up close the weed beds. Wont lie fishing was tough! Lots of fish jumping (some big ones) but mainly small fish. Resort said lake has been stocked with 34,000 fish since ice off. There are still some big ones in there (we saw them) but you really have to work for them. Largest fish from our group was 3 lbs - 13oz

I would give it a miss this year. but all those catchables they put in should be 2 - 3 lbs next year.
