Hi all, Glad to have found this site but haven't seen anything posted recently for fishing areas near Langley.
I just moved from Alberta so I'm starting over when it comes to types of fish and location.
I was hoping to get some info on tidal water fishing (river or ocean). Here is the info I'm most interested in at this point.
1. Must be from shore 2. What can I catch? Flounder? Dogshark? Rock fish? Trout? Salmon? 3. Area must be less than 1 hour away. 4. I'm not fly fishing. 5. Any gear/lure/bait tips would be much appreciated (last time I tried I had a pickerel rig setup with squid as bait. Was using 20lb(?) test. 5. I'd like to fish ASAP. Next weekend if possible.
Looking forward to hearing back from this community. Have a nice day

You can try steelheading on the vedder river, which is non-tidal.

A lot of the local lakes in the city were just stocked with catchable sized rainbow trout and are fishing quite well. I limit out no problem (2 fish), each trip. Green Timbers lake in Surrey is closest to you probably. Super easy to catch fish too. Just use very light gear, 4lb test for line/leader, float with any types of bait you want or cast tiny spiners/spoons/flies as the trout are only about 200-500 grams each. Cast to the middle of the lake if possible gives the best results for stocked city lakes, for what ever reason. Tight lines, good luck.

hi. not much to do in langley. tidal you can go to whiterock and fish off the docks for groundfish or trap for crabs. you can drive to the fraser river and fish for trout and pikeminnows. Salmon wont be available till at least august. without boat you dont have much options at the moment. there is trout in stocked lakes but you will need a freshwater license. good luck
