I braved the cold yesterday for a couple of hours. it almost took me that long to drill two holes. the ice is 18 inches ! not a bite. next time ! anyone have any fish tales?
steelheadmike72

very very slow fishing here..no rain and too many seals coming up river..I've lost one and seen 2 all winter..looking back at my calender I was really getting into the steel by the last week of febuary..
running low on roe so I hope it picks up soon

Ice fishing is not for me, see topic, so I am waiting ice off on Yellow Lake. I have seen a few brave souls out on Okanagan Lake and some casting from the shore. I have been tempted but have so far resisted as now we are in a freeze.

But, yes it is a bit quiet here, and next month is March, so I guess thing will start to happen soon.

To be honest, I really can't wait.

Been going fishing to the Chilliwack river every second week. Very slow until last weekend. Lost out on a steelhead, but did happen to catch a white fish. Very cold with the eye holes of the rod freezing up.

I went out both Sat/Sun last weekend with my brother in Mission on the Fraser and at another local place and caught 5 cutties total, including this beautiful male cuttie ! Got this fly fishing thing down now :o

beautiful cuttie.
I know where you are coming from Jeff. I hate ice fishing too. why does anyone in their right mind want to sit on a frozen lake freezing whatever off. I get bored once in a while so break down but........can't wait until the ice is gone. my back willing, I will be floating around on Phillips the day the ice comes off, dreaming of those 8 or 1o pounders biting my fly !
Mike, sorry to hear things are slow. maybe they will pick up by the end of the month and I can try my luck over there for a couple of days. hope, hope!
anyone else fishing these days?

hey guys went out to a local river about 30 min outside maple ridge caught this doe, good thing too it was f***ing cold out
cagey

quit bitching about the cold. it is 25 below in turtle valley right now! and that is without any wind !
nice fish by the way !
smokin

stave fish?
vancity

sure was. was their yesterday and it was empty went today and it was packed time to start exploring other options
smokin

thats what happens when you post pics on the net. Its pretty obvious to any lower mainland steelheader that "half an hour outside of m.r." is the stave. Hopefully your learned something from this
slaytanik

Seymour is 30 mins from maple ridge too!
cagey

but there is no retention on the Seymour and it takes a bit more than 1/2 hour to get there from m'ridge !
