Have moved back to the area and have fond memories of fishing with my Uncle George Frisky in the 60's and 70's on the Veddar. I am sure it is a bit different today but going to give it a shot. All my gear is saltwater stuff so need advice on an entry level or intermediate setup.

look around for a decent levelwind setup, most come with a abu garcia 6500 and a 10'6" casting rod, combos are usually around 200 wich is very reasonable.

If used is an option it opens the door to a lot more options. Usually you can work on te price a little bit as well.

$300 is a very good price for that combo! you would be looking at over $500 to purchase that set up new. If it was mine I wouldn't sell for any lower.

If you are looking for a cheaper combo, let me know, I have a bait casting rod and reel that I could sell, perfect for river fishing.
