8'6" #7-8 Graphite Composite. Floating line with 10 foot sink tip. Was at the Mamquam all morning and landed over a dozen. Kept this one. Going to go out and get the Little Chief on Friday and smoke salmon for the first time!

great catch !

a good drag system is a handy thing to have..I always palm my reel too until i have a moment to tighten my drag..i've had my fair share of rats nests and banged up knuckles !

doesnt have to be expensive gear to be good..on my 4-5 switch I use a $50 dragonfly L.A 7/8..has a great drag system and looks pretty good on the rod and a perfect balance..
prunehands

Mike's bang on.No need the break the bank, palming is a good way to go.If you don't have an exposed rim,you may have to get a finger on the spool
slaytanik

palms are a great thing!

There is many people that have caught big metalheads on here. One i know of started this thread.

No pics of my weapon as i don't take pics of my rod and post it on the internet.
But most used rod is a lamiglas cert. pro 10'6" blank that i made paired with a calcutta te.
Second most used is my TFO 6wt that i put together a while back.

oh how I can hardly wait to hook into some winter steel..never have fished the summer runs yet..keep slaying the chromed out pinks..guess i can wait a few months
smokin

you should be targeting summers instead. They are way better than winter runs and obviously pinks. Youre lucky to be so close to so many rivers with steelhead
steelheadmike72

got my first baitcaster couple months ago...took a lil getting used to casting and pulling apart bird nests..but its landed me a couple coho
steelheadmike72
