My dad and I caught our limit under 30 minutes, choosing only bright does. Caught around 10 fish together. Ready for the smoker!

I did the Squamish river. I had waders on. I can see the Mamquam from my position
I used spin and glow (small plastic pink in color, with two propellers, I supposed they spin under water, I use barbless size one or maybe size two hooks) and after that, one feet or two feet, I add some weight. I don't casts far, the fishes are everywhere. Lol
I let it sink. Again, am new to all of this. I hook fish but I don't know when or how to set the hook, so they are often fouled hooked.
The small spin and glows I got at army and navy for 1.29 a piece. Its expensive if u don't know what u r doing (like me LOL)
I didn't get the coordinate to where I was fishing this time as my data ran out on my phones. I will share next time
Going up early on Saturday. My buddy will show me the Mamquam and I will show him the spot I found a few days ago
I am pretty sure am not bringing any home. I don't have smokers. I do like catching em and releasing em though.

The top one went straight to the BBQ as soon as I got home lol! Water clarity is good! Fly fishermen beside me were hammering pinks with sinking line on pink nymphs with a gold bead/head. Heading out tomorrow aswell, I will give another report.

nice catch...pinks love taking flies..its the presentation i think..I out catch the guys on gear by a easy 5-1..some like to attack and run..but most just ease it onto their mouth and ya hook em on the very slow retrieve...
tightlines.

Was on the river today. Lots of fish and lots of fun!

Both males? Hows the water visibility?
fish22
The top one is a female and the bottom a male. It was pretty cloudy. Cant see more then a foot. If it was clear you would be able to see the hundreds of Pinks going by by the hour!

Fly fishing or casting spoons? Were you on the mamquam river?
fish22
Spoons. Med size. No weight. Size 2 hook. Red+White or Pink. There were guys fly fishing with success but I didnt have my fly rod that trip.
Monahan

Oh, Just simple cast and retrieve or were you floating? I take you were on the mamquam river? Or the squamish? Nice fish, looks like a good trip. I am debated on taking my fly rod, or just take a spinning set up with spoons.

Just cast a little down stream and real in slow. Yup on the Mamquam. Park on the dyke off Government and walking across the rail road tracks and down to the river. I had waders so I stood in the river but you can fish fine from shore. Thanks, probably going back on Monday. Take my fly rod this time.

Hey 3fish. Might bump into ya on Monday. I will try furry creek fish and if nothing, I will head down to mamquam.
It's my first year salmon fishing, so this is quite fun and challenging. Pinks were everywhere though when I was at the squamish river this last Tuesday

Ya masadatech. 95% sure I'll be there Monday. Just tied this up. Going to tied a few others like it before Monday and see what happens.
Monahan
I'll hopefully be there Monday, if not Tuesday. I try the Mamquam amd maybe even the squamish. Just going to bring my spinning rod with some spoons.
Monahan
Just a quick question for all of you, do you think next Monday or Tuesday will be good for the squamish or mamquam or will they be spawning by then? I want to get out as much before the hunting season begins?

It should still be good for Monday. Went to Mamquam this morning at 6:30 and it was super busy but I just walked and found myself a spot away from everybody. Caught my 2. There are still fresh fish coming in, I hooked a doe that was bright with sea lice still on it. So Monday should still be good.

Next Monday, the 19th?

Oh yeah, I have witnessed people taking zombies from the vedder. In Beautiful British Columbia you can be a little selective. lol, Thanks Goin Fishn

Were you on the mamquam? What were you using? Flies?
YZ125
No guys, this is a chrome pink salmon trust me. For one it had spots on the tail, for two it had black gums like a spring, but it's obviously not a spring...
YZ125
I was using spoons.
YZ125
Also, the flesh was not like a coho, the meat of a coho would be much more red than this, especially being chrome.
Monahan

floating or cast and retrieve, how many did you catch in total? How was the water vis? Thanks man.
YZ125
I was cast and retrieving. The river is completely blown out. There was at least a 50 foot shore line where I was fishing last week, now there is no shore line lol. I fished from 9am - 2pm and I caught over 20 fish easy, basically every cast, however some were snagged.
YZ125
I would say water vis was less than 6 inches, but even then the fly fisherman on the river were snagging/catching lots of fish. Outdoing everyone else easily.
Monahan
Even with the river blown out, you caught 20 fish?
Monahan
Do I need waders?
masadatech
Was there sat am. Wow. Tons of fish. Didn't take any home. Caught close to 8, my buddy next to me caught over twenty in two hours. They were not silver LOL
YZ125
Yep it had an adipose fin
YZ125
You need waders to fish where I was fishing, but you can fish without waders around the train bridge area
YZ125
You can see the adipose clearly in this pic
cagey
isn't the problem that it has its adipose fin. one hatchery marked fish per day appears to be the law. right roe bandit?
YZ125
Thank you!
YZ125
Are you really gonna keep going on about this...
YZ125
Sure...

Hello everyone, I was hoping anyone who has been to mamquam recently could post an update, is it over?
Thanks
fishmonk
Hey Metrocruiser, I was there yesterday and you're starting to see dead ones now. There was plenty of action on the fly rod though with some fresh ones still coming in but not that many. Most of them were starting to change color.

Alright fresh start:
I think the pink salmon are done at the mamquam. Heading out for springs on sunday on the fraser. Will head out to the mamquam early October for chum

I was not thinking when I said that lol, I knew that though, I am aware of the regs. Either way im going to the fraser to scout some bars and test out my new 14ft 25hp boat, and see if it can withstand the mighty fraser.
Monahan
Your boats fine, I've taken my 12 ft with 9.9hp with no problem at all, all the way from Chilliwack to hope.
Monahan
Lots of people do it, you just have to be a little cautious, I don't see anything wrong with going a little slow. The reason I got a 9.9 is because other fishermen recommended it.

I went on the Mamquam yesterday, lots of people, poor visibility, lots of fish being foul hooked and retained, yes even above the train bridge. I found a spot away from everybody, released about 35-40 fish, retained two chrome females and a male. The chromers are few and far between, lots of fish are in the spawning stage now, the squamish is much better for fresh fish, went for about an hour, got about 5, kept one chrome female, this was between two people. Good day, just do some exploring and find a spot to yourself. That was my last trip to the Squamish/Mamquam pinks, will hit up the vedder, or the fraser. My report.

Hi YZ125, by chance is your new boat an inflatable zodiac style?

Was on a boat today. Saw a whole bunch of people catching pinks on beach. Anyone tried furry creek lately?
YZ125
Nope, my boat is actually a 2001 Silvan 14ft Aluminum with a Suzuki 25hp 2 stroke motor
Monahan
Any updates on the mamquam or squamish? I think its a safe bet the Vedder is better for a chrome fish now.
Monahan
Should I hit up the vedder or just fish the mamquam or the squam?
YZ125
Mouth of the mamquam somewhat on the squam, best of both worlds.

Is there still fresh pink in mamq??

Was up last week and got 2 nice ones. Not worth it to go up there now that the Fraser is happening tho.
