Been fishing Vedder for couple hours at first light. Water is high and clear. Talk to locals and they say there were very few fish taken from that eraly Coho run.

This run is famous for going straight to the hatchery if water conditions permit. Earlier, when the water was low, fish tend to spend more time in canal, but not now.

"On The Way" shop manager mentioned that majority of the fish was taken recently in the upper section of Vedder, though there are a lot of people fishing Wilson Rd. and other common places below Crossing.

Work on digging holes up from Keith Wislon bridge is still going on. Overall it is planned to create 8 staging holes. We'll see if those are going to be nice fly fishing spots.

Tight lines!

which part of the veddar fishes best with the fly, I am heading over to canada on the 2nd of oct for ten days and i would like to fish this river, I have never fished the river before.

well highlander it's hard to answer that question when your time seems precious like that it really depends on the amount of rain and water height af the river ..

when the river comes down there are usually some great holes just up from the keith wilson bridge witch is on a map one bridge south of the #1 highway overpass that crosses that river

just drive up the dike from the keith wilson and check it out by car and walking it

up higher there are some more quiter spots but i haven't found any

thanks surgeon sturgeon, I will certanly check it out , can you tell me do you fish for pacific salmon - the same way that you would for atlantic salmon with the fly..ie..casting downstream at an angle of around 45 deg and let it swing naturally round until its hanging directly below you ?(if the current is sufficient)

H/S - I think I saw a thread where you were looking for somewhere with not a lot of peope around?
The Vedder is probably not it.
Its a great fishing river, with lots of people on it from sun up to sun down.
surgeon sturgeon

yup it's busy

when you come up you're going to be fishing for coho so you'll be fishing slow pools and back eddies so yes on a 45 and sometimes there is no current and you're just stripping it in

how is the Vedder good fishing? Probably going next weekend hopefully there will be some coho's my friend went yesterday and got nothing he said it is slow.
