went and fished some pocket water in the anderson run area. The river seems to be at a normal level now. clarity was decent as well. got there at about 7 am and boy was it cold. its hard to fish when the guides keep freezing with ice. i was short floating a bent rods pink jig with a pink worm. No steelhead, but i do think i had a bull trout on. it didn't feel like a steely. not as strong but it did put up a nice fight before breaking off. later i went to the crossing bridge and saw four others fishing. tried a little bit without a bite on a colorado blade. The last spot i went to was bergman road. three guys were there and i fised a blade. no luck. it was about two in the afternoon and i decided to go home.

Here's a tip for your icy guides, spray ultra protector on about the first five or six guides. Most of the waters will bead and fall before it has a chance to freeze up in the eyes. Your guides will still ice up this just prolongs the anevitable. I'm not sure there's any sure fire way to stop the guides from icing up completely. Also I found the water to be a little bit low yesterday and very clear, I switched my leader to a 4lbs tippet with only one jenseren egg and hooked into a nice one right away. I was only using two split shot too with a tiny 15gm float. When the water is clear like it is now, it all about making as small of a presentation as posibal. I would save your colorados and pink wormies for when the water has some color to it.
