Has everyone else been having as much trouble catching the sockeye on the river. I was out on Sunday and I didn't see one landed, but talked to a guy at the boat launch and he said down river guys were maxing out.. Is it just a case of beng at the rite spot at the rite time????

Was out Saturday AM in the Chilliwack area (Gill Rd)for about 4 hours. I landed 1 sockeye and lost 1. My buddy landed 2 sockeye. I wouldn't say we were slaying them, but people around us were catching fish aswell.
Good Luck

Its all about patience and luck. They move through in schools and they move dependant upon tides. If you catch them at the right time you will likely see a big push of fish move through at once, lots of guys will hook em and then nothing for a while. The best way to get em is to just keep on chucking it out there. Believe me, your arm wont be tired when your having the barbeque.

Its all a matter of timing the schools right and being in the water when they come by...thats the only real thing that can change your "luck" sockeye fishing.
I had a great season with 8 socs and 4 reds and I would say that the longer your cast the better (on the bar I was fishing anyhow).
At this point I guess you may have to wait til next year
