I was at Allouette Lake the other day for the first time in years. Travelled from the south end boat launch all the way to the north end around the lake and back. On a single tank of fuel too. I fished the rockey points, cliffs, and bays with no luck. Trolled for a while along the trout hatchery side without a bite. So whos got some tips so next time i'll have more sucess. Thanx

Troll a gangtroll (Ford Fenders and Willow-Leafs work well) with a Wedding-Band and a little chunk of dew worm at a slow speed (1.1km/hour if you can). The wedding abnd should be "glowy" or Red. If you have a down-rigger and a fish finder then drop it down to the Kokanee (usually 30-40 feet) and enjoy some of the most hectic action you'll find anywhere. The Kokanee are small (8-10 inches) but taste the same as Sockeye and you can keep up to eight I believe.
If you don't have a downrigger just try to get it down with a little extra weight. Cutthroat, Rainbow Trout, and Dollies can be caught as well. If you want to go really deep (80+ feet) then you might have a shot at a big Laker.
I found in Spring when I fished there regularly that the best location is along the opposite side of the lake from the dock down to the Hatchery about 150 ft from shore to the the middle of the lake. However the Kokanee may have migrated since then. There's so many in the lake though that I've caught them just a few hundred feet from he dock.

Great advice, I was there again yesterday and ran into a fellow fishing and he suggested the line from the hatchery too. No bites but did see many fish jumping in that area. Now I know the location. Excelent. Cheers
