Cold morning, misty (actually pretty spectacular) but at 0800hrs the water was already mottled with many rising small fish - I tried tempting them but after getting nothing but tiny juvenile cut-throat on the surface with a dry mosquito I switched to mid water and a shrimp pattern (a little lighter colour than the one pictured). Lots of fish on the depth/fish finder at the deep end of the lake (which by the way was showing as deep as 10m), but they were mainly very close to bottom and not much interested in my offerings, I think mainly due to a too-slow sinking line. During the day (0830 - 1330) I had a few smallish cutties on the dry fly - yes I gave in to temptation - and two very feisty small rainbows that were a lot of fun - in fact all the fish had a lot of energy depsite the water being quite cold. Weed is still a pain in the @ss in some more shallow areas where I had hoped it would've died back more by now. Fish very active mostly in the deep hole at the Eastern end and on the southern shore near to the reeds. Surface feeding fish mostly very small and unsatisfying and there was the usual activity around the lily beds near to the dock but all very small stuff. Only one other person on the water all morning. Note that the access road is still in a poor state.
