| On Sunday morn at Deer Lake in Sasquatch park, I went out in the
tube about 6:30 am. It had rained the night before but the sun was
already warm over the lake. Every where I paddled, there was a film
of chironomids on the surface. Have never seen a lake so thick with
them. Not shucks. These were all still sqirming. Tried to match the
colour and fished many depths for about 1 hour. Nothing. Then went
near shore tried casting a 52buick. Got a few small ones but nothing
else. Went to shore to pack up. About 10:30 or 11:00 am it happened.
All these bugs started hatching. The air was like a low fog with Mayflies.
It was incredable. The fish were not rising at all throughout the whole
morning and even during the hatch, the lake was dead. Nobody I talked to
even had a bite.
