Author Topic: Fraser River ?

Planning on getting out Wensday on the Fraser live down town and want to get some input on where to go from here. Can you please include the town name seeing I cant seem to locate some of the places mentioned here on a map, obviously I am new to the area and thanks in advance.

I fished both Vedder and Fraser this past weekend and had a chat with a number of people regarding fishing. Here is the summary:

1. Vedder - not as good as it was two weeks ago, so far the best bars are in the lower section (Peach Rd, Lickman Rd.) of the river or at the very top (Boundary Hole). Stopped by the hatchery - there were 30 fish in the channel, so you certainly have a chance.

2. Fraser - much better now and continue to imporve. The following bars will work well for bottom bouncing: Gold Dredge Bar (Laidlaw), Chawathil (Bar Below Pipeline), Sea Bird Island, Herrling Island if you can cross the channel. If you are bar fishing - selection of places is far greater. Boat will increase you chances both in terms of finding productive spots and chasing the fish - Chinooks are great fighters.

Tight lines!

Hi bassman, if you go to the vedder...please dont be one of those beaks that bottom bounces with long leaders.

The springs and the sockeye both bite (altho only springs are open on the vedder) so there is no need to snag either species. I would recommend being on the river as early as possible as I do think there is a first light bite (altho my fishin buddy disagrees) and after first light, I think things slow down a bit.

Spinner blades and roe (under a float!) have done the trick for me this year.

Gooey Alex thank you both and hopefully my next post will be a pic of me and a nice fat spring!
