Author Topic: I need HELP!

Come on you fishing gurus lay some knowledge on me; I am still waiting for some info on catching some springs from shore. Plan on heading out Thursday and Friday and have no clue where to start. Have bought a suitable rod and reel and cross over swivels with bouncing betty and yarn is this the recommended why to fish for them. I hear a lot of negative response on flossing here, is this method I mentioned flossing? If so what are other ways to catch springs? Also seeing I have no clue about the surrounding area, where can I find these fishing spots mentioned, what town are they near or what road are they off of. My offer of free beer and me driving still stands to anyone up for going out and showing a rookie the ropes. You can contact me at

bump for the Bassman... hehehe

sorry dude i dont know about bar fishing... just a stillwater kinda guy... i hope you get your question answered

Hey Bassman, I gave you a few pointers on the first thread you started...but I do agree with you...when it comes down to it people love posting their pics and telling their stories (BRAGGING essentially) but really don't want to put anything concrete on the line.

So to answer your first question: yes - the use of bouncing betties on the fraser pretty much indicates your flossing. As my response indicates I would rather have a fish strike under the float (as the red springs do in the vedder). I will floss sockeye (opening rumured to be mid july) but I feel fish that bite shouldnt be flossed (lets just see how I feel after my first day of bar fishing tho )

If your fishing the fraser, there are hundreds of spots between here and hope on the fraser. Just take a drvie along HW 1 and you often can see the fishermen from the road. The only flossing bars I know of that are accessible by foot right now are Isl 22 and Laidlaw. Laidlaw is basically right in Hope.

Work the vedder, its a shorter drive, easier access, better fishing format (float VS floss), and the fish are biting.

Good luck

Bassman, definately go to the vedder. If you go to freds custom tackle on Vedder rd in Sardis, they will give you the setup you need. Not much, floats, splitshot or pencil lead, and roe. Bp
