chronic

I was at the Cap yesterday morning at first light. There was a good amount of water in the system and a good number of fish as well. The trick as always on the Cap is figuring out what, if, and when they'll bite! Tried fly fishing just above the highway bridge at first light. Green wooly bugger, red and yellow spratley, egg pattern, minnow pattern. No luck. Saw a couple fish in the pool though. Tried floating with shrimp and others, no good. At the cable pool up above, I counted at least 20 nice sized coho, but with 3 or 4 guys hucking big hunks of roe through a crystal clear pool, the fish were more than a little spooked! Nevertheless, I managed to get on small guy to take a wooly bugger bead head. You're best bet is to get there at first or last light, use light gear and a small presentation, and don't let the frustration get the better of you, you'er not alone!
