Bites-on Salmon Charters

June 7, 2004

Vancouver Area Report:Again this week most of the consistent action is across the Strait at the Thrasher Rock area. Sizes are in the mid teens with the odd 20 pounder coming out. Bait and spoons have been the choice and the depths are between 70 to 130 feet. This weekend marks the second round of the Silva Bay fishing derby and you can get tickets by calling the Silva Bay Marina - $25 per person. It is about 1 hour and 15 minutes to run from Vancouver harbour so we are only offering this on an 8 hour charter. The action around the QB to Point Grey has been off and on with a run of larger Chinook showing up. Most of the action seems to be on bait and deeper than normal at 90 to 125 feet. The weather has been great with everyone getting a start on the summer tan ! Good Luck. Our update will come every two weeks now so stay tuned. Have a great Spring!

Bavaria Fishing Charters

We had our boat out of the water to replace our engines, and are finally back fishing again. It looks like we just made it in time to take advantage of some pretty good fishing in the Gulf Islands. Over the last week there have been a lot more fish showing up and fishing has improved quite a bit.
Unfortunately along with the fish, seals are very abundant and can make it difficult at times to land a fish.
In terms of tackle to use, basically everything works from spoons to hoochies to bait. It does not really seem to matter what you choose.
Fishing in the local waters such as the harbour area, as well as the south end of Bowen Island, has been very slow. The only bright spot seems to be the Howe Sound, where quite a few fish in the twenty and even thirty pound range have started showing up. Bait definitely seems to be the preferred lure.
Going forward, fishing in the Gulf Islands should continue to improve, and we should also start seeing some larger fish showing up in the Tunstall and Hutt Island areas.
For the Harbour and south end of Bowen Island I am sure it just a matter of time for fishing to improve.
If you have any questions, or would like to book a charter, please call or contact us.

Tight Lines!
