Author Topic: is DFO monitoring the spring fishery?

Last year I was told that the DFO was monitoring the length of leaders and use of flossing in the spring salmon fishery. Any one know if they are doing that again this year. My impression was that they didnt want a floss fishery on the springs as flossing affected non targeted species where as bar fishing for fish that actually bite meant far less non target species hook ups.

Whats the general consensus any ways? I fish sockeye and occasionally bump into a spring while flossing socs which I think is OK as the soc fishery is a meat fishery...but whats the general consensus on targeting the early springs by flossing 'em?
