Can I make it to this lake in a car? Or do you need a 4x4 (as the BC Fishing Mag suggests)? Thanks a lot!

From Highway 1, take the Jones Lake exit, No. 153, and follow Laidlaw Road to the Jones Lake Forest Service Road. Follow the posted signs along this steep, gravel logging road for another 9 kilometres to reach the recreation area. Road conditions may be poor, even during the summer. The road is an active logging road with steep, rough sections, designed for 4x4 vehicles with high clearance. Access for small cars, RVs and trailers is not recommended. Heavy snowfall restricts vehicle access to the recreation area during winter months.

Jones lake used to be an exciting destination, but when I tried it the previous summer, I was very disappointed with people dropping tons of garbage on the shore, driving in ATVs right by the water. Lots of young folks drinking openly on the shore. Water itself was dirty and messy not to mention continous noise and dust from ATVs.
Road itself is Ok for a high clearence vehicle, as residents improved the road slightly. I've seen Ford Focus and other small cars during my last trip.
While it is not warm enough for the regular crowd to go there, I think you will enjoy both fishing and scenery.
