thinging of going camping this weekend and i was wondering if anybody has been there and has info? How's the fishing, and if the road is too much for a 2wd truck with camper, any fly patterns you would suggest.
Alex

2wd with high clearence will do. Road is not too bad, plus it is being maintained.

Fishing should be good on midges (pupa in the morning, adult after 3:00 pm).

Thanks for the advice it sould come in useful, consider me there! ~tight lines~

What's the best way to fish midges? floating, sinking or sinktip?stillwater or trolling, also what size hook would be good.
The Yak

Under a float. That's the best way.. Its just easyier to watch than just your line. But harder to cast... hehe
Alex

Yak is right - just use a strike indicator on your floating line and use 12ft leader with weighted pupa immitation. Let your boat drift with the wind - do not retrieve. If there is not wind, try dead-slow hand retrieve.

Later in the day, when you will see fish rising and some midges hatching here and there, switch to dry flies (Adams, Black Midge, Black Gnat, Gray Wullf and the like). Keep in mind not to stricke right away when you see a swirl on the surface. Feel the take before setting the hook or you will miss them.
The Yak

good advice Alex on the waiting for the strike... the last time i was out, one of the only fish i saw all day got away for this very reason..
Regs

Is it at all possible to do in a car?
thirstyfisherman

Regs, it's OK for a car that you dont mind banging up a little, but I would say noway if you have a car that you care about.

Well what can I say. We got snuffed at weaver. The camping was good but the fishing wasen't. I geuss its to warm right now. We could see the fish follow or lures right to the boat but then they would just swim away. I geuss they weren't hungry
