No secrets revealed; but I've never fished Chehalis. Tips please?

Don't mean to be a jerk about it - but I've never been up there. I'd like at least a sporting chance on which runs and where. Thank you.

go to vedder, way more fish
mefishguy

I don't like the vedder. Too many rude people. Seriously, no one can give some idea of where to start? I'm not going to catch all the fish lol.

Go to the stave with the rest of the beaks

I've never fished it but i'm going to do what i always do when i start at a new river. Park somewhere with just my waders and walk up the river and look for holes and mark down where i think will be good. Going up there this weekend. Sucks leaving the rod behind. but its worth finding the honey holes fore next time.

lol...

no fish at chehalis...
MoeJKU

I don't bring a rod because I just find its a lot faster and then theres no hassle of bringing gear. Also I will usually do it when the fish aren't running so its less crowded and then i'm ready for the beggining of the run. keep your comments to yourself, it just makes you look immature saying that sort of stuff on the internet. When all I was doing was giving him an option and a way to find new spots. If you wouldn't do it that way thats fine, and I have no problem with that.

Wow, I did not mean to upset anyone. It's just fishing you know. I was curious mainly ~ and I heard about the canyon. Just don't want to get killed falling down somewhere and thought you folks could help. For example, is the canyon known as the logging bridge as shown here on the site?

No feelings hurt, just thought I would give you an idea of a good wayto scout out a river. As there didn't seem to be a lot of help.
mefishguy

No i agree with you; just give me a starting point. Like, where do i park? and which way?
MoeJKU

I havn't been there i'm going to do it soon when it dies down. I usually like parking at the top and walking down so i'm walking down current it makes it a lot easier. I would have to take a look at my fishing mapbook for a good place to start.

i cant believe someone would drive all the way out there, put his waders on and walk the river without bringing a rod.

Dont wast your time trying to find the logging bridge. Its about a half hour drive up an active logging road. There is tons of fishable water right at the main bridge, just look for others fishing.

Finding out a new river is one of the more rewarding aspects of fishing, its usually pretty easy too. just go there and find out yourself

ps nice catch smokin'

Nice catch indeed smokin!.....I see theres one more there than from when we were out...must have em dialed right in!!lol ;-P (much thanks again by the way!).....have to agree with the masses on this one in that no way in hell would I ever be walking a river without a rod in hand....when the rivers are open for fishing that is.

And X 2....."Finding out a new river is one of the more rewarding aspects of fishing, its usually pretty easy too"

Bottom line I think is that many fishermen put in alot of time and effort into walking/exploring and finding peaceful runs and just do not wish to share much info on it and especially over the internet for fear that it wont be the same experience next time out...as we have all seen many times before in many places.......It's like asking/telling where ones stash of gold or good claim is located, lol!

What is the main bridge called?
MoeJKU

I wouldn't drive all the way out there just to do that. I'm usually up there offroading, with groups of people. So I would just do it on the way there or after depending on the meeting time. It wouldn't be out of the way at all.
