For all those out there who either like coarse fishing,or who cant drive, how is the coarse fishing coming ? i know its spring and thats awsome when it comes to coarse fishing as the water begins to warm and the fish start to show up and feed. Carp, Chubs, etc. has anyone had any luck catching anything at the local piers? i know it seems weird, but i dont got my drivers licence and that really sucks

John, hi!

The other day I was hiking on the dyke on the West side of Richmond (between #1 Rd & Gary Point) and there is a shallow pool along the dyke. It is full of carp! I've seen at least 30+ fish in the range of 1-3kg. They seem to be active and searching for food.

That means that other local water should see some boost in coarse fishing as well. If you will be planning on fishing in local small rivers, check regulations first as some of them might be closed to all kinds of fishing in spring.

i have seen people catch 5-8lb carp out of burnaby lake near the rowing area....lots of marshy water there..and squawfish.
Mike89

i live rite beside the dyke where u seen all those carp
Alex

badboi, this freshwater pool is not affected by tides. It is close to the shore, but since it is behind the dyke (dam) it is independent.

Small rivers, like Nikomekl and Serpentine (between Richmond & White Rock) have carp.

Hatzic lake by Mission is famous for carp.
