Author Topic: Do salmon take specific routes?

I have been wondering lately as I fish If salmon take specific routes in the Fraser river. I quickly painted this picture to show what I mean. If I am fishing on the south side of the river where I marked, do you think the salmon would take for example the yellow path every time? For what ever reason, maybe memory or it's easier (less current to fight). Or do you think the Salmon just go up randomly? I was wondering because maybe If I could find spots that say have less current, maybe the salmon would be there more?

Channels eh. I wonder if there is some sort of depth map for the Fraser. The channels probably change a lot too. How would you find where a channel is?

Mr Grey basically nailed it.

Commercial fishermen don't troll for salmon in the Fraser, there are no licenses for it and it can't be done with commercial set ups. Think about it.
