I was up at Jones lake last week and bumped into a guy who was setting out crayfish traps. He had already caught some and boiled them up, let me try one. Delicious! I'm thinking "Wouldn't it be great to drop a trap as I head out onto a lake to fish, and even if I get skunked for 'bows I might have a surprise or two waiting for me when I get back to my trap at the end of the day." This brings me to ask if anyone knows what lakes in the region have them? I have seen them in Kawakawa years ago, and I now know that Jones has them..... any of you guys know if others around have any? Thanks for any info

I would also like to know if any of you guys know any crayfish spots. Where on the lake was the guy setting the crayfish traps?
Thanks

He was just randomly dropping his traps about 50 feet offshore.

ur best luck with crayfish are rockier areas it doesnt have to be all that deep eather just where theres rocks alot of spots where theres less light aswell (under a bridge or a spot with alot of weeds)
