Even though I learned how to avoid snags in the Fraser, today I still lost my last spoon. I learned from a fisherman, who reels in more fish than anyone ive seen, that you can make good lures out of dollar store stuff like pink beads. Basically he had pink beads above his hook of different shades and sizes (big ones in the middle) and had a shiny metal piece that spinners have (just for light reflection.. again look around in fishing sections because I think you can buy cheap lures and dissemble them to get the spinner part.. use imagination.. maybe even wedding band-like things will work great). And then clip on a weight or something to cast it.

Spoons work really great but next time I go im going to go beads...never tried it yet but ill see how it goes and from what i've seen, they work even better. Also the cheapest place i found to get spoons is hub sports in abbotsford... 4 good spoons for 9.99.. but today i stopped by and they seemed to be sold out. I think this should be helpful.

Good on you Alan, I am sure there are much cheaper alternatives. Here is one I am tempted to do something with. The link here points to one page of this web site, but browse around and you'll be surprized to find out how cheap the component parts are.
