SO I have ALOT of free time on my hands as of late and I keep finding myself riding a bike to a fishing spot. Maybe you have seen me around!!
Anyways, I have spent the last month in search of my first Salmon of the year but instead I get a few trout..
Where would you go today to catch one close to mission/abbotsford ? I have been spending some time on the fraser there and its pretty slow right now..

go to a good tackle shop and ask them for a couple of good pink salmon lures. use just that lure tied to your line dont use any weights, floats or leaders or any thing like that. the best time to fish for pinks is just as the tide comes up the river, so try and hit it at the right time and you will by hitting pinks in right away. when your casting your spoon let it hit the water and sink for about 5 seconds then reel it in "try different retrive speeds". i would use 6 or 8 lbs. mono line on a 8-9ft. spinning rod. there is a few pinks out there right now but there numbers will just keep getting higher and higher in the next couple weeks. you said you are in mission/abbotsford your right in prime area for getting lots of salmon, you should be getting 5 to 10 fish a day with this technique.

if your a newbee you probably have the urdge to use 20lbs line "dont do that" you wont be able to cast the light lure for shit pulling all that heavy line. the 6lbs line is the best for pinks.

go to Matsqui trail park in a week or so, pink wool, fly, spinners, spoon all work well.

Wow theres a good fishing spot in abbotsford? Is it the fraser? I mapped it but looks like farm land. I was planning on going to vedder but this is way closer!

ya its awesome. Probably 15 people fishing on a sandy shore. I dont have a tidal license so i guess i have to find another spot to the right of the bridge.. Parking spots right by the fishing area since it's also a trail.

ive been under mission bridge every couple days looking for pinks. there are a few cought. ive been skunked yet and its hit n miss right now still. weve been at scale and limitting out on spring and sockeye and that is closing mon so it will be under the mission bridge more often., this next week should pick up. if you dont have the tidal tags then on the mission side at the mill there is a spot to try. right next to DFO . was doing sturgeon there earlier this year. not sure on pinks but once they come im sure anywhere will have them im on a bike down at the bridge trying to. might see ya there. it does get good there and dont need heavy gear or be far out.
