Is there a fishery for coho on the Shuswap river? If so, what time of year do they run in the Enderby area?
Brook Trout

no openings for them but there is a chinook fishery

the coho run in the fall by which time there is "no fishing for salmon". they started hatching them at the hatchery in lumby a few years ago i understand. the idea , if i remember it, was there would be openings in another 5 years . lets hope so . it is such a beautiful river!
on another thread you asked about spin n glows for springs in the shuswap. i have fished it for almost 20 years and have rarely seen anyone use them, except with roe as well. i am sure they will work if you give them a chance but most guys use roe and/or wool. some toss fst's or crocs, especially before/at first light. (the fishing is restricted to daylight hours which is defined in dfo's glocery as 1 hr before sunrise to 1 hour after sunset). good luck. might see you on the river. due to other commitments and a broken truck today, i probably won't get out much until about aug 24th. the last week of august and 1 st week of september are the prime time. by then the water will be reasonable. i'll be there every morning then for sure ready to cast 1 hour before sunrise!

Thanks for the tip Cagey, I guess I'll try roe and or wool this year. Its my first time fishing for chinook and I really want to hook into one.I tried fishing for trout this past Saturday and the water level was too fast and too high, I was near Cooks creek.

i was fishing a lake above mabel lake today and on my way home around 12:00 i stopped on the road near the river mouth at the lumby end and there was a crap load of boats lined up for the opening lol. i watched them for a bit and it looked like a freakin gong show. meanwhile, i havnt seen a single person on the last 3 lakes i fished lol.

Yeah I bet there were alot of them out there. I didn't see any chinook in the river on Sat. but a few small rainbows though, about 14 inches or so.

was the water still real high at the lumby end?

I was at the Enderby end near Mable Lake and all the farmers fields looked liked small lakes.
