great photos! they bring back a lot of memories. i fished mile high lk many times, plus wyse lk "next door". my first time at mile high was june 30th ,1967. fishing was slow all day then just at dark it went nuts. my buddy and i fished well after dark. my parents knew we were ok as they could hear us hooting and hollering. it was the most incredible 2 hours fishing i have ever experienced. we had our limit of 2 pounders when we finally quit. i think the limit was 10 fish back then.
echo lk can be a fun lk. it would be an excellent spot to hold a weekend of fishing. you mentioned the 18 lb'ers. not very many people would believe you but i have seen them up to 14 lbs. big fish for a small lake! and the koks are very tasty although i understand they are quite small again (too many fish). for a few years they were up close to 2 lbs. now i understand they are under 1 lb. echo can be a fussy lake, like most i guess, but i have had some great days there. some days, the shore fishermen do better than those out in a boat!

I totally agree with the points about Echo Lake. We went probably 3 times last year and got skunked. The frustrating part was that they were jumping like crazy, so you knew they were there. It was still a very nice spot to spend a day in the canoe. We will be going back soon, when I can put aside enough time to go all day and make the trip worthwhile. I am sure those fish are there and I want to try trolling a different setup real deep and see if I can finally hook one.

Nice pics!

A few buddies and myself are spending the may long weekend at echo. It should be pretty fun and they say that is the the right time of year to hook into a big guy. Pretty cheap rates for the cabins too!

MrGrey1: Good Luck fishing and post some report when you get back...

Hey MrGrey, I think you just defined irony.

and the prices are much lower than any where else ! their list prices , when you wander around looking, are good compared to anyone then you get 20 % off. they have recently renovated it . if , mr grey1 , you think it was a big shop before, you should see it now. great place to shop for fishing tackle for sure!
if you stop in have lots of time. every little nook and cranny in the building is loaded with gear. the fly tieing department has great selection as does the rest of the shop.

Yeah Kenkraft is about 15 minutes down the road from my place. I was not aware of a 20% discount though. We also have Surplus Herbies in town as well as a few other spots for tackle (incl Ukranian Tire etc). MrGrey, Kenkraft is way way before the Lumby turn-off to Echo Lake (like 1/2 hour at least), in fact it is in Coldstream, then you still have Lavington and Lumby to go through before the turn for Echo Lake. Cool pics too, if you have more I am sure we are all interested...
