Author Topic: Paddle for Wild Salmon
salmonaresacred

People from all walks of life who believe that wild salmon are an irreplaceable resource are paddling down the Fraser River and coming together for a rally in Vancouver on October 25.
Many paddlers and kayakers, fisherman, (sport and commercial) whale watchers and so on in British Columbia will be coming along to ‘Paddle for Wild Salmon’ down the Fraser River (20th to 25th October) and lead the flotilla, march and rally in Vancouver (25th October). The ‘Paddle for Wild Salmon’ is a follow up to our ‘Get Out Migration’ which saw 7,000 people gathered in Victoria in May following a 500km migration down Vancouver Island. There are Voyageur canoes with space for over 100 people to lead the flotilla. Perhaps people with their own canoes are welcome to join the flotilla.

First Nations leaders an elders are on board in paddling for wild salmon, as well as renownd biologists, paddle enthusiasts and concerned citizens alike.

The flotilla leaves Hope on the morning of 20th October following a ‘Hope for Wild Salmon’ event hosted by Chawathil First Nation on the evening of 19th October.
