Ok well sorry for posting twice in a row but im trying to figure this out for 2morrow. What would be the best lake to go fishing in. I moved here 4 years ago from Alberta and never got to it till now. I live in East Maple Ridge (almost by mission). I hear Jones Lake is good. Any other real hot spot lakes ?

If you have a float tube or row boat, Rolley lake is consistent. No motors of any kind though.

if you live in maple ridge, which i do to, I would go to aloutte lake.A lot of lakes dont allow motors ao If you had a tube or something you could paddle you could go to mike, rolley ,or whonnock which are all within 15 min and are all stocked . There are also a few lakes not much further up around stave lake too. Mill lake in abby is a good one but again no motors allowed. This is an average size stocked fish caught at mill about a month ago

Does Rolley have a closing time / gate ?

Yes the Rolley gate opens at 7am and closes at 10 or 11 I believe. Was there yesterday, lots of hungry fish just couldn't hook into them all or keep em on! I managed to land one, and just about landed another one while I was kicking back to shore around 8pm but lost em. My buddy got a few throughout the day as well. It's surprising they're biting even in the hot mid day sun, very light biters btw. Sinking line is key! Try varying your trolling speed as well.

Get up to Weaver lake, worth the drive there, you won't be dissapointed.

i thought rolley lake was fished out?

Rolley definitely isn't fished out, europuma. Fly fishing seems to be the only method that's producing there. I've seen lots of people fishing with powerbait or worms from shore and catch nothing.

Every time I go to Rolley, the guys in the float tubes in the middle of the lake are just hammering fish

Rolley is known for the odd 8 lbder but few and far between it is a put and take fishery stocked with 12 ins. i live just down the road from there so i here all the rumours. only fished once no hits.Haven't fished allouette in yrs but always did well past the narrows at the slide lots of lake trout 12ins and bigger hope this helps a bit. the fisheries were wondering if they were spawning apparrently they are.

i fished rolley for a bit tonigh and didnt get anything. It was way too warm, didnt even see anything rise. There are alot of fish in there though. I wont be going back til it cools down. And I dont believe there are any lake trout in there, just rainbows and cutties. And there is no slide either, i think youre mistaking it for a diff lake?

sorry, i was mistaken. You were talking about aloutte not rolley

alloette is the one with the slide and has large lake trout that were put in there as an experiment in 1969 . there is a local fellow that goes there every year on his birthday to catch one and it is always over 20 of course he doesn't reveal his secret but has been written up about many times in the local paper.I never caught a large one supposedly you need a downrigger in the right spot.

If you do not have a downrigger use lead line on Allouette Lake...I find the best spot is thru the narrows.
