Author Topic: how to fish rooster tails??
killer fisher

gonna try some of them for rainbow trout fishing and wondering because they are so light and cant cast very far with them how do u add weight to them ?????
killer fisher

how far up do i put them
??????????
andrevan

I tend to put them above a swivel
Here is my attempt to show you in a crappy diagram:

---- = line
RT = rooster tail lure
S = swivel
8 = split shot

---------88-S------RT

I hope this some how helps. I tend to use 2-3 split shots which get it the distance that I need. It doesn't really mess up the lure action too much either and keeps the lure moving straight instead of moving up
