ice fishing over the christmas season was awesome. I fished in the merritt area.

look like you pulled a little more than your limit..
remember limit your take not take your limit...

Hi yak there was 8 of us fishing

Oh and by the way the limit is 6 fish per person per day on that lake. And we threw back probably 15 fish that day only keeping within the size limit
The Yak

the smilies ment i was joking. I assumed that you were not the only one yourself on the ice..

Sorry Yak I just assumed you thought we were taking more than our limit and we never fish that way.

No harm no foul..

nice pics salley! is that lake hatchery stocked or natural...i've never fished the merrit area but some friends from work go there to fly fish during the spring/summer months with always good results....farthest ive fished is hope.

that is natural. It has been good fishing for many years. Not accessed much in the winter as it is not plowed so you have to snowmobile in. So great fishing in the winter.

Hey Salley,
Nice fish from Merritt. If I may give you a suggestion, you should put something beside fish when you take a picture - almost anything will do (for scale). The fish you have there are nice, but so is any fish really! Without something in the photo for scale, big fish may look small and small fish may look big (nobody seems to mind this one...). So, how big were your fish? You mentioned something about a size limit. Most lakes that are open to ice-fishing don't have size limits! Just curious...

Hi Ben Here are some of those fish that were on the ice. As you can see they are about the width. of the counter
The Yak

a nice sized haul!... good work!

hi salley..from the looks of those fish being so healthy the lake that you fished in must have ecxellent insect hatches during spring summer and year round forage fish to feed on and little angling pressure..a perfect mix in my books.

Sally, nice catch!!

I'm going to paradise lake in March. Thinking of ice fishing there. Can you give me some tips on how to catch fish?

Bait to use?
How deep should I fish?

Hi Daniel, Fish about 1 foot off of the bottom, use worm and corn or power bait for that lake. But the worm works best on a glow hook or a dick nite. There is a lot of fish in that lake but they are not very big, but you should catch a lot.

Thanks Sally!

It should be fun times. We are mostly going to ski with the kids, but I can't see why I should'nt try to catch supper!!
