Hi...
I'm new here, and have a few general questions.
We're thinking of moving from Manitoba to the Vancouver Island (likely the Parksville area), however I would definitely miss Walleye fishing if we moved.
I've noticed there are quite a few freshwater lakes on the Island, so was wondering if there are any walleye in these waters. What kind of freshwater fish can I expect in these lakes? Is the fishing very active on these lakes?
Any advice of direction to find this information is greatly appreciated.

I don't believe that any Walleye is on Island... This fish is not native there. My friend is from Winipeg and for Northern Pikes and Walleys we always go to Charlie Lake near Fort St.John. Very good place but quite far. My friend lives on Island and is missing Walleys as well... On Island you can have very good trout fishing, basses are there too. And of course salmons and steelheads in rivers.Let me know if you need more details.

Dude if you move out this way you'll miss back home fishing tons. I grew up in Alberta and been in the lower mainland for 8 years. Never heard of walleye in this area same with pike. I miss fishing both of them so much never though i would miss the slough sharks but i do. The fishing out here is awsome but not the same.

Trust me man I grew up on the Island here and you will experience a new kind of fishing. My bet is you will have way more fun out here. we dont have walleye but every thing else we have if you are useing a fly rod will be just as fun. If you move to parksville you are only a short drive north or south to a couple of really good bass lakes as well as cutthroat and rainbows. If you get into river fishing you will have a blast with the salmon and steelhead, and various other kinds of fish. Good luck to you and if you do move to the island welcome see you out on the water. If you would like some local info let me know and I will be happy to lead you to some hot spots.
