Author Topic: Rice Lake

Anyone know why float tubes are banned on this lake??

1.) too small
2.) water is extremly disgusting in summer
3.) Swimmers itch
4.) Mud bottom
5.) so much hooks and line in that water, plus there is no need for a tube.

I have plenty of succes there without anything, just the dock,

sound reasonable when you think about it....

I live really close to that lake, and fished it quite a bit in the last two years, if you want to catch something there, first light is the key. Worms, shrimp, and small spinners will take fish, fly fishing is tough but I hav ecaught some on a wolly bugger in the evening.

Sweet thanks

Just a beginner here-looking to take my 5 year old out to
Rice Lake for some fun-how far should you have the hook from the bobber ? Whats the best way to get there from Richmond ?

get a slip bobber, pop a worm on the end with a size 8 hook. Put tthe knot about 10-12 feet in, rice lake has a mean depth of 15ft. If your using a plain old bobber, early, or late evening is key, 3-5 ft down. Fish off the dock, or the point.
