Hi everyone, I'm in the market for a new 9.9 outboard for my tinny. I'm going to be using it almost exclusively in fresh water. Does anyone have any idea what brand I should be looking at? Mercury? Honda? Yamaha? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have had a Honda 9.9hp in the past and they are very good. It was a 4 stroke and didnt use allot of gas wich was great. They are super quiet and good quality. I boutmine new from a dealer with warrenty and used it for 3 years before I sold it. I never had any issues with it at all. I sold it because I rarely used it in the end. I would use my electric most of the time I went fishing so thats they only reason I sold it. I highly recomend the Hondas.

i had an 8hp honda that got stolen, now have a 9.9 yamaha 2 stroke. power wise i like the yamaha. quiet wise i like the honda. we took the yamaha out of storage last week for a trip to a lake, fired up on the 1st pull. i like that, the honda was always a 2-3 pull but was also an older model while the yamaha is new. Ed
