Author Topic: Is this a Sockeye?

I was up in the hills fishing for silver cuttys and got this on a tiny gold panther martin and 4lbs test.

It didn't jump or run very far but it would violently shake it head an kind of roll around at the same time.

I quickly pulled the salmon reg out of my pocket I thought is was a sockeye so I threw is back.

Note the scrach on the side, no spots on tail, mouth was all white w/ hardly any teeth and non-circular spots on the back, small scales and bright silver delicious looking.

Is this a sockey?
Coho Cody

wild coho, and i can see many spots on the back.

yah non-cirular spots.

It's weird cuz I saw a black coho round there and I was at least 10-12km inland from the fraser. I didn't expect one so silver (or so small) up that high.

where is this? tahts a coho weird lookin one.

for sure a coho
river-rod dyl

yeah its a coho alright

I got it upstream of the chehais canyon in a small pool inbetween white water runs. That usually where I find trout.
