The trout

hello to all. I like to go up there with my scout troop each year and we often make it a fishin camp. I caught some nice fish up there and we almost always go home with atleast a 3 pounder each. anyway I was hoping that people could give some advice to a group a newbs. I caught this guy on a five of diamonds lure.

Nice fish! five of diamonds is a classic. smaller spoons definately work, spiners with minnow colours should nail fish that size, and of course bait always works. If you guys can get an inflatable up there im sure trolling your lure behind a good willow leaf would improve odds.

THE TROUT i always wanted to go to garibaldi , but i heard it is a massive hike , how long does it take you to hike it from the parking lot , and if i were ought to go , is it the best choice to fish from the shore since it is impossible to bring a bellytube?

The trip up there is one of the most spectacular in lowermainland and the fishin's great. I always want to make sure that I am not sending inexpereinced hikers up there so it realy depends on who. The hike has aroun 1000m elevatoin gane in 10km and depending on your shape 2 1/2-4 hour hike. The veiw is great and it can be done as a daytrip if you make an early head start. If your in good shape you may like to take a tube. But it should be light and as a genral rule it is not best to carry over a third of your bodywait. I have seen people pack a canoe there but it is not an easy thing to do by far. It is a great starter-intermeidiead backcountry expereince but it is only fun if you are sure of your shape and have the right mineset. I have seen people who shrug this hike off there shoulders and others angry at themselves for trying it. I can only say that I do not want to be the one who your mad at if you don't enjoy it, If you do....blame it on me.

Have fun, tight lines.

thanks for the info, i too always wanted to go up there but never bothered, that hike sounds like a walk in the park for me.

When I was 13 yeras old I did this hike with a full back-pack and my whole family + some friends and stayed the night there. It was no problem for me or anyone who came with. Sure we got tired half way up but we stopped and rested and continued on. I have done this hike 3 times in my life and everytime I regretted not bringing a fishing rod or small tube ect...

This place is one of the most beautiful places here in BC. I will be going again one day for sure....

Almost anyone could do this hike. It took us about 2.5 hours up and about 1.5 down. There are incredible veiws along the way up. Simply stunning.
