Topic: Knouff Lake for monster rainbows |

Does anyone fish this lake?
I go here a few times a year and love it. I'm curious as to what others use on the lake in terms of flies. I use little chronomids, leeches or anything green.
I also troll the lake with anything shiny and get some monster hits.

I only fished Knouff a few times, I have found a few better lake in ears shot from there so I try not to waste my time at Knouff. I have caught a few big fish there, but most fish are smaller and the other lakes are much more successful for more and larger trout.

These lakes would be Badger, Little Badger, Spoony, and another lake that I would like to keep to myself because it is one of my favorite lakes in the interior.
Badger holds tons of smaller (10-16") fish, but Spoony can hold some nice lunkers in the 1.5-5 pound range.

there does happen to be a search pattern called the knouff lake special so if it was named accurately maybe it will work

The Knouff lake special is a great fly. I tie my own and I tie them in Dark and light green, Dark and light brown, and even light yellow.
They are a imitation of a Sedge Pupae and work very well if there is a Sedge hatch on.

I noticed that no one has posted on this forum on Knouff lake for some time, so I thought I would post my result from a trip in June. Success with Ford Fender and Leech pattern flatfish fishing around the group of three islands resulted in 2- 2lb rainbow trout.
