Whats a good store to buy a deep cycle marine battery for my Minn Kota 40lbs thrust electric motor. This minn kota dose not have the maximizer so the battery will drain after a few hours lets say.
Im looking for a good battery to run my electric with maximum life time.
Thanks

This may sound odd but I would go to a Wheelchair supply place and buy some gel cell batteries that go in power wheelchairs... Those things run forever.

I have a deep cycle battery question. Is there a was to successfully charge a deep cycle battery at the lake? I have been told you can but never been able to get a good charge in one off my truck.

The one thing I have done over the years is to charge the battery while on the water. Go out and pick up a solar trickle charger. It is a small solar panel that has a converter built in and then automatically charges your battery.
This way the battery has a slow charge going to it all day and unless you are running the motor at full out all day you won't run dry.

& where can one buy these small solar panels from? How much are they?

Canadian Tire usually has them. I think you can spend anywhere from about $50 up depending on how much power you want. We use them on our camper to keep the battery topped up all year. They also make them small enough to strap to a backpack to run a GPS or charge a cell phone.

Stevston hardware in Ladner and Langley both carry them for between $40-100. Try to get one in the $70 range they are of better quality, I found the cheaper ones don't do as good of a job.
