Author Topic: Weaver Lake

Has anyone been up to Weaver in the last little while. Just curious if the gate is open yet for regular use.

Weaver lake will be gated all of the time from now on (as far as I know) You have to get a key from the guy at Chehalis River Campground. They put gates up at all of the lake in that area. I think that he will charge you $10 for day use and maybe even a deposit so that you return the key. If you are staying at any of the campsites he will give you a key at no extra charge (just the $10 per day camping fee).
Is there really fish in Weaver, I have never seen anything but a couple of little guys.

Last time I was up that way most of the gates were just dummy locked. Pulled shut but no lock, maby a twig to keep it closed. I didn't try the gate at Weaver but Woods Lake and the 20 Mile Bay rec site (3 gates total) were like that.

Forgot to say, that was about 1 1/2 weeks ago.

yup, i dummy locked wood behind me last time, kept all the dirt bike yahoos away

Fished Weaver last year a few times. Never pulled anything outta there more than 14". Usualy troll a fly and that seems to work well near the crappy-ass boat launch. Man sombody should build a better one soon. HELLO PARKS BOARD WAKE UP.

If you build it they will come. We don't want that. Do we???

I hear there are Catfish in Weaver...I did not think that we had those up here.

yea i noticed the lake profiles said that, i wonder if its an accident or true, i know of no lakes local with cat fish.

Burnaby Lake/Deer lake probably has a few in it. I find lakes that have carp usually have cats in it too. Use something gross and smelly and let it sit on the bottom.

I caught a 12' catfish out of Como Lake using shrimp and having it just sit on the ground. I thought it was a rainbow till I saw it, the asian guy next to me was really happy

Unless the regs have changed, the lock is supposed to come off on the May long weekend and not go back on until after Thanksgiving.

Personally, I detest the idea of someone locking a PUBLIC lake, but I understand the necessity during the "off season".

i went to Weaver last weekend, Gate was open, though i believe it wasn't supposed to be, anyhow the caretaker was up there and would collect $10, not bad at all...
I'm not sure how the key thing works, you can get one for $20 but he was actually out of keys so he manned the gate from 8am - 2pm or something like that to let people in and out.
The site will officially open on the May long we he said.

people were saying that there are big rainbows in there, I'm still to see one....
