With all this rain is it worth hitting the Harrison around Kilby with fly gear?

Just wondering if water is safe? Blown out? Worth fishing at all?

Thanks guys,

Michael

Here is the hydrometric station report for the Harrison River below Morris Creek. Water went up 3 meters in the past few days. That's a lot even for Kilby Park. Water is very murky (almost the color of coffee). I don't know weather fly fishing will work. The other day I had a lot of action on Vedder river with drift/float fishing using roe bags (one-two feet below surface). All fish stay very close to the shore and I am not sure weather you can effectivelly target them using fly fishing equipment. Plus you don't have much space to play them - once the fish is back into the current you most certainly will break it.

what about drift casting from a boat? are there cohos or springs in river now?

Hey, Alex, were you fishing cured roe that you tied in bags yourself, or the little glass jars of pre-tied roe bags?

Michael, a friend of mine was at Kilby today, the water's still turbid but he could see his fly, visibility of about 3 feet..

dmoney, when the water is fast the only relief is to use roe bags - see the picture. Otherwise too much work. In murky water works great with #2 hooks (not #2/0)
