Been to a few lakes that are gated lately.
On the weekend went up to Weaver, but it was gated, as was Grace, whats the deal, according to the parks website, they were supposed to be open on the Thanksgiving day weekend. Went to Rolley lastnight and it was gated, I can understand closing the campground, but why cut off lake access??? Does this happen every year and does it have anything to do with the private stewartship of campsites now??? Does this mean the lakes are completely closed to fishing, didnt see anything in the regs, and its starting to piss me off...

You can get a key from the caretaker at Chehelis River campsite, it's ten dollars,and get this, another ten to use a public road to the lake. RKO Management has been given the contract to all the forestry sites in the Fraser Valley. This is just the begining of the privatizing of public lake and river access, if you don't think so, just look at Scotland's user pay policy.

Thats what I was afraid of, judging by the way the whole park thing is turning into pay as you go, but it strikes me as ridiculous that I cant even get down to a lake to launch my boat. What happened to public domain,
are we goiing to start selling off our parks to the highest bidder soon. I wouldnt be so upset about this but even on the BC Parks website, there was no mention of closures for the Thanksgiving weekend, in fact they said they were open. I know... rant rant rant
