Author Topic: Local lake fishing

Anyone think the local lakes like Kawkawa or Hicks etc will be picking up soon, I know, everyones waiting for the next run of salmon, but hey, us lake guys need to look forward to something down here too.

I wouldn't try kawkawa cause the mature kokanee are gone. But Hicks will probably be good. Another one to try is Weaver. We were up there last weekend and got 10 trolling wedding bands plus the fly fishing is great there.

Are all the mature Kokanee are spawning?
When is the best time to catch them, spring?

Yes all the mature kokanee are spawning and the best time to catch them is late spring on smaller lakes and right up to the middle of summer on large lakes.

Thanks, I think I'm going down to Nathan/Beaver creek tonight to see if there are any Cutthroat hanging around.

Yup the Cutthroat are in the creek now, but so is that darn beaver, kept moving the fish up and down the creek., but had a few tug, tugs
