Anyone know how tough the hike is? Would a person be able to bike it or is it too rough?

There is also conflicting info re: length - 4km vs. 8km

I did the hike 4 years ago. The last 2 K are pretty gruelling. It is at least 8k felt more like 10+. Some nice camping spots up at the lake. But don't take too much stuff you'll be cursing yourself the last 2 k. The trail was pretty grown over at the time don't know what it will be like now, I guess it depends on how many people have been up lately.
