I was wondering which lake in kamloops are the best and what to use because i'm going to my son's swimming provincials up there and he really wants to go fishing.(He especially wants a big bow)

Face and Paska Lakes: approximately 14 km (8.5 mi)) north of Logan Lake. Rainbows to 1 kg at both Face and Paska. Best trolling with lures and flies. Boat rentals available on Face Lake.

Heffley Lake: 18 paved km (11 mi) from Heffley Creek. Popular recreation lake. Rainbows to 2kg. Fly/troll off shoals around the lake. Boat rentals available.

Hyas Lake: 23 paved km (14 mi), then 23 gravel km (14 mi) from Kamloops via Paul Lake Road. Rainbows to 2 kg. Troll lures as well as flies such as dragonfly, nymphs and leeches. Boat rentals available.

Jacko Lake: 11 km (6.8 mi) from Kamloops, off Hwy #1, with easy access. Rainbows to 2 kg throughout the open water season. Day use only.

Kamloops Lake: 45 km (28 mi) west of Kamloops. North and South Thompson Rivers flow into this 25 km (15.5 mi) lake. Year-round fishing on a challenging lake. Rainbow and small kokanee. Trolling lake with fly fishing and spin casting at the river estuaries and outflow.

Knouff Lake: 34.5 km (21.5 mi) north of Kamloops. Flycasting and trolling along the edges of the shoals and the sunken island will produce rainbows 1.5 kg and better. Boat rentals available.

Lac Le Jeune: 32 km (20 mi) from Kamloops on paved road. Rainbows on fly/troll to 1.5 kg in this clear lake. Mayfly hatch in late June/July. Flatfish and small spoons also produce. Boat rentals available.

Little Shuswap: easily accessible from the Trans Canada Highway near Chase (45 minutes from Kamloops). Troll for rainbows up to 5 kg. Spincast and fly fish at the outflow to the South Thompson River. Special regulations apply.

Logan Lake: 1 km (0.62 mi) from downtown Logan Lake. Fish for rainbow trout to 2 kg and better. Lake contains leeches, dragonflies and freshwater shrimp. Good hatches of caddisflies, damselflies, chironomids and mayflies.

Paul & Pinantan Lakes: 19 km (11.8 mi) from Kamloops to Paul Lake Provincial Park with easy access. Popular recreation lakes. Paul Lake rainbows to 2 kg. Pinantan Lake rainbows to 1 kg.

Stake Lake: 28 paved km (17.5 mi) from Kamloops. Rainbows to 1.5 kg on fly/troll. Clear water, nice drop-offs, sunken island. Day-use site.

Surrey Lake: 50 km (31 mi) south of Kamloops. High-country lake on the Nicola Plateau that has good fishing all summer. Wild Kamloops trout abound. Boat rentals available.

Tunkwa & Leighton Lakes: 35 paved km (21.7 mi) and 25 gravel km (15.5 mi) from Kamloops. Fish to 2 kg. Excellent family lakes. Spinfishing, flycasting and trolling are all effective. Lakes are in Tunkwa Lake Provincial Park.
