i have a 14' alluminum boat with a 9.9 mercury. is this enough for the fraser river, upper or lower areas? what is the largest motor you would put on this boat? any input would be great. thanks.

I wouldn't go any higher than a 20h. Depends on the weight of the boat. A 9.9 would be okay on the river but would be boarder line for some areas heading upstream with the river pulling. If you have a Merc, You can get a carb kit for your 9.9 that will boost if to a 15 thou.

Thanks for the info guys.

you need at least a 20hp to tackle the upper fraser. 30hp is good.

and "this buds for u" , your salmon looking fish is either a dolly varden, lake trout, or cutty.

You have been claiming the story of a weird fish for weeks now with no pictures to be found???? Lets see the pics! My guess is a Bull Trout or Lake Trout. Open your regualtions and you'll find it. But of course I never thought I would see a lobster on the west coast, until one day diving in Indian Arm we found one. Turns out in the 50s DFO released a bunch and there are still a few around! We want pics!
