i have a 14' alluminum boat with a 9.9 mercury. is this enough for the fraser river, upper or lower areas? what is the largest motor you would put on this boat? any input would be great. thanks.

I wouldn't go any higher than a 20h. Depends on the weight of the boat. A 9.9 would be okay on the river but would be boarder line for some areas heading upstream with the river pulling. If you have a Merc, You can get a carb kit for your 9.9 that will boost if to a 15 thou.

Yea if u can get the carb kit like he was saying i would cause u pretty much want a 15 anyway thats a good all round motor for lakes and rivers my friend is getting a 14 alluminum and we r putting a 15 on it jus for fishing in stave lake mostly we want to go up to the riverhead of the lake there the fishing in that lake is great but we keep catching this wierd salmon looking thing but no1 knows what it is its wierd we have shown about 20 people the fish and not a single person knows what it is every1 thinks they know what there talking about when we tell them where we got it but when they see it there like what is that n they end up being stumped not haven a clue what it is i will post a picture in the near future of 1 and name the post stave lake unknown fish if u wanna see it i should be able to post 1 in a week or so we are goin there again in a week or so we catch 5 - 10 every time we go

you need at least a 20hp to tackle the upper fraser. 30hp is good.
and "this buds for u" , your salmon looking fish is either a dolly varden, lake trout, or cutty.

You have been claiming the story of a weird fish for weeks now with no pictures to be found???? Lets see the pics! My guess is a Bull Trout or Lake Trout. Open your regualtions and you'll find it. But of course I never thought I would see a lobster on the west coast, until one day diving in Indian Arm we found one. Turns out in the 50s DFO released a bunch and there are still a few around!We want pics!
