Do I need wader to fish in Ballam road??
penman

My be I can Help. As of 19 June river was high with about 15mph flow may be more. Well above summer month level.
Fish being caught off roadside just down from the cement plant on the way to Peg Leg, I helped a guy land a nice spring there that day.
Back in the UK now but it was great to find good natured guys and gals full of help and encouragement down there inc a trip on a boat to Grassy Bar ( a few fish caught there too. Sadly not by me!!)
A big thanks to the people I met there you are a credit to BC.
I was the guy in the blue Dodge truck. If any of you read this please let me know how you are doing.

you guys are killing me!! Any shore access at PegLeg at this time? Don't wanna travell all the way from NV for nothing. Cheers
Bravo252

oh~ man!!

the water's still 2~2~2 high.

Don't waste your time,& better wait until end of nest

month.

i was fishing in pegleg, ballam, and finally landstorm bar today, but no luck.

no one caught nothing.
HookMeister

how about scale bar in Hope? Someone told me you can fish off shore. Couple of guys pulled out few Kings, or so they say. Have you heard anything?
Bravo252

i'm not really sure but, i guess landstorm bar = scale bar.

3 guy were fishing there saturday in the morning.

no one got nothing.

just wait until the water's gone.
chinookslayer

still to high only people up there have a boat!I'm sure there are the odd one's being caught, but not in good numbers to be out there!yet!
HookMeister

Of course I did not want to believe anyone so I went all over Fraser, Chilliwack to Hope, to see for myself. Found few nice spots along Hwy 1 where some guys cought few Springs, but was dead for most of the day. The water did come down quite a bit, but in two weeks or so it would be worth trying again, for sake of fun at least, that is if water keeps going down. Tight lines guys!!
springmen

yo man hears a good website on the river levels in bc. jsut go to the fraser river at hope. right now (june 27th) the river is at 6.1 meters or so. if your wondering about pegleg and when you can get out to it easyily to reach the good fishing areas just watch the meter until it hits around 5 meters. good fishing and tight lines
springmen

http://scitech.pyr.ec.gc.ca/waterweb/formnav.asp?lang=0

there you go hope it help
Bravo252

numbers are just numbers!!

you'd better see the level with your own eyes!!

around 6 meters is still too~~~~~ high~!!

I check the level last saturday before i was heading to

hope, and it indicated around 6 meters.

however it wasn't really fishable condition~!!

guys~!! just wait one more month unless you have a boat.

Question, I wanna know like how to rig a very successfull bb'ing rig up could any1 give me the spicifics? probabaly gunna be fishing scale or any other bar from land.
chinookslayer

I gather bb'ing is bottom bouncing, there many different ways everybody does it different. But what i use is called a leader saver or leader runner found at most tackle stores. From my main line i would tie the leader saver, then with the fist loop closest to the main line on the leader saver attach my boncing betty weight(2.5-4.0)depending on how fast the water is moving on the bottom.More wieght slower the bounce less weight faster of course.then attach my leader to the bottom loop on the leader saver.lenght is 4-10ft longer your leader more area you cover but more likely you are to get snagged.then use a #3-4 hook single barbless hook. Some red wool then your good to go.I dont use a coorkie for spring because they say chinook swim close to the bottom, where as sockeye swim higher off the bottom. But i have caught some using a corkie float. This is a spring setup. For other salmon (when open) change the wool colour to Green or floresent yellow put a small corkie float on your leader line many different sizes and colours it's good to have a selection.
Some poeple appose to this type of fishing!

Hope this helps a little, this is how I do it there are diffent ways same concept!

Cheers! Chinookslayer
HookMeister

Here are some updates folks....went fishin on Fraser whole long weekend including today. Caught two Springs and a Sockey at Gill Bar. Today went to Laidlaw but was not as lucky as the guys next to me who pulled out three, yes three, fricking huge Springs. So low or high water the fish is there and you can find some nice spots on the Fraser to fish off shore.
chinookslayer

pleg leg is still under water lots of new dead heads up there! From a boat dont try unless you have a jet boat. But like JB says there out there!

sage-rage

yah im going to try it out in an hour or 2... il reply tonight
sage-rage

i was there last sunday and it was still like 3 feet to deep to get to the main hot spot... im thuinnking its going to be good tonihgt though
JakeNorth

i was there last night, its low enough to get across, 4 wheel. people are just slaighing them down there. Good luck
stink finger

what is the deal with this place the fraser is huge as long as you all think this is the only spot thats great for the rest of us.a three way swivel with the weight on the bottom and a looong leader off of the middle is the easiest way with a big hook doesnt matter what color of wool u use cast as far up stream as needed,u want to hit bottom consistently thru the drift without snagging up.if u snagup too much cast more in front socks are mostly caughtat the last third of the drift u dont have to wade up to your balls unless your gonna cast towards the beach and the guy down river always should cast first and so on up the bar.ps thers always fish around hope hope this helps someone happy farukin snaggin
sage-rage

Its doing alright im finally seeeing more socks than springs caught but now commercial is open.. so its goin g to be a little bit slower.... i caught a 25 pound spring last night there .....
Louis Vuitton

Sick fish man!
