Author Topic: trolling question

I am a rookie fisherman and I'm wondering if you have any tips about what to use and what is the best technique for trolling the interior lakes.

small lakes you can troll a variety of flies, flatfish or willow leaf and wedding ring. on bigger lakes, for big trout apex hotspots or plugs down deep work. give a bit more detail which lakes and someone can undoubtably help you further.

We are going to echo lake the last weekend in May

I fished Echo last May long weekend. I had great luck trolling with small, gold, red, and orange lures in the morning, and late afternoon. At dusk, black and brown flies worked good off the cabin dock. My catch consisted of 12" to 19" rainbows and kokanee.

Super Dupers, and Dick Nite spoons work great.

echo has lots of kokanee, although there aren't a lot of mature fush this year i gather.
use any kokanee rig or red fly.
the chironomid fishing has been really good according to a fellow i spoke to yesterday for rainbow.
there are also some lake trout ....... go deep with a spoon or apex.
good luck!
